"You're Never Too Old to Raise a Little Hell!"
So said Doris "Granny D" Haddock who, at age 90, blazed a 3200-mile trail across America for campaign finance reform, precipitating the passage of the McCain-Feingold Act, declaring "Corporations are not people! Democracy is!" She continued her bipartisan reform efforts in countrywide voter registration drives, issuing her final challenge in 2010 at age 100: "Democracy is a running game. You huddle and you go back in. You keep going."
Off-Broadway actress Barbara Bates Smith and musician Jeff Sebens highlight the story of this crusader, and are bringing "Go, Granny D" to Springwell Senior Living this coming Monday, October 3, at 2:30 PM. There is a free public service event hosted by Springwell, presented by Barbara and Jeff, and all are welcome.
"Come celebrate our power to vote and our humanity as we listen to the feisty and inspiring story of a great citizen!"
