Care That Starts with a Relationship

Long before a resident moves into The Gardens Pavilion, our team takes the time to learn their story. First impressions and relationships begin with our Community Relations Managers, who get to know residents and their families throughout the inquiry, tour, and move-in process.

‍

Our Memory Care Manager, a nurse with decades of experience and a background in recreation therapy, is also involved from the very beginning of this transition. From the moment a resident moves in, families have the comfort of knowing they have a dedicated nurse manager who serves as their day-to-day contact, ready to address concerns and answer questions.

‍

That same relationship-first philosophy extends to our entire care team. Most of our Certified Nursing Assistants and activities staff work exclusively within memory care, so residents see familiar faces day after day. A higher staff-to-resident ratio means more time for the things that matter — holding a hand, sharing a laugh, or simply talking one-on-one. These moments of genuine connection are vital to the resident experience.

A Plan Built Around the Person, Not the Diagnosis

We recognize that memory loss is a unique journey for every resident, so care plans are equally unique and tailored to the individual. Before a new resident arrives, our nursing team completes an assessment, drawing on information gathered during a personal visit, from the resident’s physician and family, and often from prior caregivers.

The result is a customized service plan — not a document that is set once and forgotten, but one that is revisited and adjusted as needs evolve.

Our activities team takes the same thoughtful approach, learning each resident’s interests and history while getting to know their families. This intimate knowledge allows the team to remain flexible and meet residents “where they are” at any given time.

Connection Across Generations

Some of the most memorable days in The Gardens Pavilion have little to do with a daily schedule and everything to do with family.

‍

One of our favorite traditions is our Family and Friends events. These occasions are truly a team effort, as we transform familiar surroundings with inspired decorations, lively music, and special menus. These gatherings give us the opportunity to regularly welcome adult children, grandchildren, and friends onto campus. They fill the community with the kind of multigenerational energy that benefits everyone and are just one example of Springwell’s broad commitment to connection.

More than ten years ago, we partnered with the Peabody Institute to create our landmark Musician-in-Residence Program. Each year, Springwell provides on-campus housing to a talented young musician in exchange for regularly scheduled performances.

‍

Throughout the year, Springwell residents may watch practices, attend concerts, or even enjoy a one-on-one performance. Many former musicians return to campus to visit or perform, due in large part to the special relationships they forged while being part of the Springwell community.

Every team member — from managers to nursing and activities staff — understands the impact they have, and that sense of purpose is one reason so many choose to stay with Springwell for years.
