Is Chronological Age Just a Number?

On Thursday, April 5, Springwell Senior Living hosted a Lunch and Learn at The Valley Inn with special presenter Dr. Mark R. Katlic, Chairman of the Department of Surgery and Director of the Center for Geriatric Surgery at LifeBridge Health’s Sinai Hospital.

Approximately 50 guests, including current Springwell residents and Homestead depositors, enjoyed an informative talk by Dr. Katlic along with a delicious complimentary lunch. Dr. Katlic touched on many topics that pertain to the aging population, including the importance of having a positive attitude; how ageism affects society and medicine; and innovations and advances in geriatric medicine. He also offered tips on what we can do to slow functional aging. The audience was very engaged, and guests were able to ask Dr. Katlic about specific issues at the question and answer session following his presentation.

Also at the Lunch and Learn, Executive Director of Springwell Senior Living Phil Golden was on hand to provide a progress update on The Homestead, Baltimore’s newest independent living community set to open this summer.
