Introducing the Avila Art Makers Exhibit Series: A Celebration of Creativity

At Springwell Senior Living, we believe in enriching lives through creativity and connection. That's why we’re thrilled to announce the launch of our Avila Art Makers exhibit series, a new initiative designed to bring stunning artwork and cultural vibrancy to our community.

Our inaugural exhibit proudly features the work of Gretchen Ann Maneval, a celebrated Post-Impressionist oil painter and Baltimore native whose artistry has earned recognition from the U.S. Congress. Her self-portrait was displayed in the Capitol, and she was honored as a muralist for Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Bringing Art to Life

Avila Art Makers is more than an art exhibit; it’s a platform for engagement, inspiration and storytelling. Through this series, residents and their guests will experience exceptional artwork while enjoying intimate artist talks. These discussions provide a behind-the-scenes look into the creative processes, inspirations and stories behind the pieces, creating a deeper bond between the artists and our community.

Springwell Executive Director and Principal, Phil Golden, shares, “At Springwell, we strive to create an environment that enhances our residents' well-being, and this art exhibit is a wonderful way to achieve that. We are honored to host our inaugural Avila Art Makers exhibit with Gretchen’s paintings, and we look forward to the joy and inspiration it will bring to our residents.”

Gretchen Maneval also highlights the significance of this program: “This program not only enriches the lives of the residents but also provides artists like me with an incredible opportunity to connect deeply with them. The stories shared by the community bring a richness to the exhibits that is truly humbling and inspiring.”

Art and Community in Harmony

Springwell is the latest senior living community to collaborate with Avila Home Care on this artistic initiative, with the goal of bringing art and joy to even more seniors throughout the Baltimore and Annapolis regions.

After Ms. Maneval’s exhibit concludes in early 2025, we’ll welcome a new artist to our gallery space: Steve Bleinberger, whose breathtaking watercolor seascapes capture the beauty of the ocean with vivid skies and dramatic waves.

A Commitment to Enrichment

The Avila Art Makers series marks an exciting new chapter for Springwell, blending creativity, connection and culture to enhance the lives of our residents and strengthen our community. We can’t wait!
