Welcoming 2021
As 2020 comes to a close and we all happily welcome a fresh start in 2021, I want to express my deepest gratitude to Springwell’s staff, residents and families for the tremendous support, loyalty, courage, selflessness and strength you have shown through a year like we have never experienced. You are what makes our wonderful community a true home.
With creativity and hard work, our activities team rose to the challenge of creating socially-distanced programming that kept residents active and engaged. Our dining services team pivoted to provide modified group dining and complimentary room service to all residents. Our housekeeping team worked around the clock to ensure all common areas and residences were disinfected in accordance with new safety protocols. Our nursing team, as always, made sure our residents felt safe and were well cared for with the increased responsibility of proactive symptom screening and adapting to new practices. Each member of our team deserves much more praise than I can give in this short message. Your extraordinary efforts were noticed and much appreciated. As a token of that appreciation, we have a ten-year tradition at Springwell where families and residents voluntarily contribute to the annual Staff Appreciation Fund as a thank you for all the selfless hard work the front-line employees provided throughout the year. We know that this year, of all years, this Fund will be appreciated more than ever.
Since March I have constantly thought about what is next for our community – both the positive and the negative. As Covid-19 cases are increasing, precautions and some restrictions remain in place to ensure our community remains healthy through the winter. But there is a gleaming light at the end of the tunnel: Covid-19 vaccines have been developed and approved and we are awaiting information about their rollout from the State of Maryland, with a vaccination timeline expected shortly. In the meantime, residents will receive the necessary paperwork to ensure the rollout is seamless. We wish you moments of peace amid the challenges, connections with family and friends even if they can’t be in person and the hope that 2021 will bring us closer to pre-pandemic life.
In good health,
Phil
