We are excited to have Michael Olesker here at Springwell on Wednesday night, April 9th from 6:30 – 8:00 talking about his new book: Front Stoops in the Fifties: Baltimore Legends Come of Age.
Micheal Olesker spend four decades covering life in Baltimore and was a reporter for The News American and spent 25 years as a columnist for the Baltimore Sun.
Front Stoops brings an era back to life: of teenagers riding through the streets with the radio playing loudly, and the earliest doo-wop groups harmonizing beneath street corner lights; of civil rights struggles and a city learning to cope with changes in schools and neighborhoods; of changing sexual morality, and the movies and books that reflected it.
Front Stoops takes us back to Baltimore on the day JFK died, recalling that time through local people whose memories never dimmed.
Come join us!!
